T’s Bio

Over the years I have discovered that I’m an ideas person. It may take a while, but eventually, I’ll think the right 6 things at the same time, and come up with something fantastic, crazy, amazing…and do-able.

Creating Peony Meadows has been a process… I wasn’t born with a love for peonies, but once I decided the double-bomb peony was my favorite…my mom told me that she remembered her mom having a striped peony.

My current house came with a number of large peonies…in a location that didn’t make any sense to the layout of the yard…eventually it made sense for me to gather all of my peonies to create my peony garden.

A random FB stranger commented on one of my peony pictures, asking if I sold roots…I didn’t, but the thought process began…”maybe I can grow something that people want, maybe my peonies are that good.”

One of our local florists advertised…looking for people willing to sell her peonies from their backyards in order to keep it local.

And then I was at K’s house…and with all of these thoughts in my head…. came up with…”Can I use your backyard to plant multiple peony gardens?” K was quickly on board. Our honey’s soon followed. Peony Meadows was really, actually coming to life.

Amongst approximately 14 varieties of peonies, I do have a Candy Stripe Peony planted in honor of my Grandmother.

K’s Bio

My love of peonies started when I was just a child watching Mom plant her gardens. She only had 2 peony bushes that I can remember, but in my childhood memories, those peonies grew to be the size of dinner plates.

When we finally found our forever home, I started out with a single Sarah Bernhardt bush. At last count I think I have 10 different varieties.

T and I have had a few creative outlets throughout our years of friendship, and so when she approached me about the idea of planting a peony garden in my backyard, I was more than happy to join in. Within 3 months of her talking to me, we had the back third of the yard stripped of sod, marked out, tilled and ready for plants.
